Ethical Code for Relations with Suppliers

The Generali Group’s Ethical Code for Relations with Suppliers, has been issued referring to the “Guidelines for a System based on Sustainability and Integrity in Relations with Suppliers” drawn up by the Procurement Executive Circle, a community comprising procurement executives from the major companies operating in the country.

The Code governs relations of the Italian companies with their suppliers, based upon the Group's commitment to uphold the principles of lawfulness, transparency, fairness and loyalty in all stages of the procurement process.

To avoid any kind of conflict of interest in awarding contracts, the roles of the person who places the order and the person who signs the contract, i.e. the Group Purchase Department, are kept separate.

The Ethical Code for Relations with Suppliers establishes a series of supplier selection criteria, promoting fair and sustainable competition and ensuring that anyone who meets the necessary objective requirements can take part in the selection process.

Suppliers are selected using clear, established and non-discriminating procedures based on objective criteria associated with competitiveness and the quality of products and services provided. In particular, the Group is vigilant in avoiding the continued existence or creation of dominant positions or economic dependence on suppliers. To this end, Group companies may not account for more than 30% of an individual supplier’s overall turnover.
The reasons for the final choice are recorded and all the documents are then filed and remain available for subsequent checks.
Exceptions to the Ethical Code for Relations with Suppliers are allowed - where documented and justified based on clear and transparent grounds - only in specific cases of exceptional and urgent nature.
